WHAT IS THE "IMMACULATE CONCEPTION"?
"The Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception was preserved free from all stain of original sin." "She was created more sublime and glorious than that of all natures." “Very different from the rest of mankind." "Catholic Belief," pages 214-217.
"The Blessed Virgin by communicating to the Second Person of the Adorable Trinity a true human nature of the same substance with her own." Faith of Our Fathers, page 199. Thus the teaching of Roman Catholicism is that the human nature of Christ is simply that it is not human nature at all but divine: "More sublime and glorious than all natures." If Christ did not come down to the level of those who needed salvation, they could not be saved. Christ could not be our example. To attempt to "Follow" Christ is to attempt an absurdity.
THE WORD OF GOD GIVES WARNING AGAINST THIS DOGMA
1 John 4:1,2,4 Antichrist will "deny that Christ is come in the flesh" 2 John 1:7. It is clear from this warning that there must be a vital difference between truth and the teachings of the antichrist on the nature of Christ. To believe in any way like the papacy on this subject is to be wrong. This truth would be corrupted by the man of sin, to encourage sin. 1 John 4:6 "Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error."
WHY IS THIS DOGMA SO DANGEROUS
It gives a license and excuse to continue in sin. It does away with Christ as our example. This dogma from the "man of sin" encourages sin. John in his epistles does not need to go into detail to explain the importance of the kind of flesh Christ took, for this had been made plain by Paul, years before.
HEBREWS ONE REVEALS CHRIST AS GOD
Hebrews 1:2, 3 "His Son ... the express image of His person.” Hebrews 1:8 "Unto the Son He said Thy throne O God." In heaven Christ's nature was the nature of God.
HEBREWS TWO REVEALS CHRIST AS MAN
The condescension of Christ and His nature as man are given more fully in Hebrews two than any other place in the Bible. Hebrews 2:9 "made a little lower than the angel for the suffering of death." Therefore Christ took man's nature since he became subject to death. The first statement in the Spirit of Prophecy on the nature of Christ is given by Christ, just after the fall of man, as He opened to the angels, the plan of salvation. "Jesus also told them that they should have a part to act, to be with Him, and at different times strengthen Him. That He should take man's fallen nature, and His strength would not be even equal to theirs." Spiritual Gifts, Volume 1, page 25. First published in 1858.
HE CAME TO DIE
Most men die because they were born, Jesus was born to die. Hebrews 2:14 "Took part of the same."
Hebrews 2.16 "Seed of Abraham" (“Seed of David") Abraham lived centuries after the fall. Nowhere does the Bible say Christ took the seed of Adam.
Hebrews 2: 17 Made like unto His brethren. What "brethren" did Adam have? What "brethren" on earth now like unfallen Adam?
"In all things it became Him to be made like unto His brethren." Galatians 4:4 Made of a woman. "Seed of the woman." 1 Timothy 2:14 Sin entered the world by a woman. By being made of a woman. Christ could go back to the very beginning of sin.
Hebrews 2:17 "That He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest."
Hebrews 4:14-16 "Was in all points tempted like as we are. Why do so many reject this statement? Why do they try to show Christ was not tempted like as we are?
Why do some even support the papal dogma of the Immaculate Conception? In a letter to the Editor of the Review & Herald one reader wrote: "The pseudo Immaculate Conception idea held by some good people who have not seen the whole picture. If this mysterious but important event is not placed in proper perspective, unwary souls may be led step by step into the very lap of Roman Catholicism."
"Come out of her My people" is the God's present day message. We must not go back to the teachings of those who only came part way out.
