Christ Promised

1. “I will come again.”

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am,

there you may be also. John 14:3

2. “Surely I come quickly.”

He which testifies these things said, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Revelation 22:20.

Confirmed by Angels

1. “This same Jesus shall so come.”

Which also said, You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:11.

Testimony of Biblical Writers

1. Enoch: “The Lord comes.”

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his saints. Jude 1:14.

2. Job: “He stand latter day upon earth.”

For I know that my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: Job 19:25.

3. David: “Our God shall come.”

Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he comes to judge the earth. 1 Chronicles 16:33.

4. Isaiah: “The Lord God will come.”

Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. Isaiah 40:10.

Personal Coming

Powerful and Glorious!

1. “Coming with power and great glory.”

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Luke 21:27.

2. “Power and coming of our Lord.”

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1:16

3. “Coming with power and great glory.”

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. Mark 13:26.

4. “Right hand of power coming.”

And Jesus said, I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Mark 14:62.

He Comes Visibly

1. “Coming in the clouds.”

Jesus said unto him, Thou has said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Matthew 26:64.

2. Coming In the clouds.”

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. Mark 13:26.

And Jesus said, I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Mark 14:62.

3. Coming in a cloud.”

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Luke 21:27.

4. “A cloud received him.”

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. Acts 1:9.

5. “Caught up in the clouds”

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1

Thessalonians 4:16, 17.

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. Psalm 50:3.

18. “The Lord will come with fire.”

For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. Isaiah 66:15.

19. “Earth is burned at his presence.”

The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yes, the world, and all that dwell therein. Nahum 1:5.

His Coming is Audible

1. “Come and not keep silence.”

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. Psalm 50:3.

2. “The trumpet shall sound.”

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:52.

3. “Shout, voice, trumpet of God.”

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18.

4. “Lord will come with a great noise.”

5. “Trumpet shall be blown.”

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem. Isaiah 27:13.

6. “A day of the trumpet.”

14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hastens greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. 15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasting and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, 1:16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. Zephaniah 1:14,

Angels come with Christ.

1. “God shall come and all saints.”

2. “Come with his angels.”

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Matthew 16:27.

3. “Come and holy angels with him.”

When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: Matthew 25:31.

4. “Angels will gather his elect.”

And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. Mark 13:27.

5. “Comes with the holy angels.”

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26.

6. “Come in glory of the angels.”

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26.

7. “Coming with all his saints.”

To the end he may establish your hearts without blame in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. 1 Thessalonians 3:13.

8. “Lord is revealed with his angels.”

And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels. 2 Thessalonians 1:7.

9. “Comes with ten thousand of saints.”

Reward The Righteous

1. “A reward for the righteous.”

So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judges in the earth. Psalm 58:11.

2. “Come reward is with him.”

Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. Isaiah 40:10.

Behold, the LORD has proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say you to the daughter of Zion, Behold, your salvation comes; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. Isaiah 62:11.

3. “His reward is with Him.”

Gather The Saints.

1. “God shall come and gather my saints.”

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. 4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. 5 Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. Psalm 50:3, 5.

2. “Coming to gather together his elect.”

And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. Mark 13:27.

3. “Follow me afterwards.”

Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goes you? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, you canst not follow me now; but you shall follow me afterwards. John 13:36.

4. “Come and receive you unto myself.”

1 Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:1-3.

5. “Where I am there you may be also.”

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 28 You have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If you loved me, you would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. John 14:3, 28.

Punish Wicked.

1. “Only behold reward of the wicked.”

Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked. Psalm 91:8.

2. “Transgressors are destroyed together.”

But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. Psalm 37:38.

3. “Wicked perish at presence of God.”

As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. Psalm 68:2.

4. “Day comes to punish the wicked.”

9 Behold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. Isaiah 13:9, 11.

5. “Lord comes to punish.”

For, behold, the LORD comes out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. Isaiah 26:21.

6. “Wrath to come.”

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Matthew 3:7.

Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Luke 3:7.

7. “Come to destroy.”

He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. Luke 20:16.

8. “Avenge them speedily.”

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth? Luke 18:8.

9. “Sudden destruction comes.”

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:3.

10. “Destroy with brightness of His coming.”

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 2 Thessalonians 2:8.

Resurrection of Righteous

1. “Coming and all in their graves will hear.”

28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. John 5:28-29.

2. “Dead shall be raised incorruptible.”

Righteous Living Translated

1. “Alive and remain shall be caught up.”

2. “Changed and put on immortality.”

51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 1 Corinthians 15:51-54.

Coming is near

1. “Lord comes and is nigh at hand.”

Blow you the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD comes, for it is nigh at hand. Joel 2:1.

2. “It is near and hastens greatly.”

The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hastens greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. Zephaniah 1:14

3. “Gospel to all world then end come.”

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14.

4. “Cut it short in righteousness.”

For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. Romans 9:28.

5. “Nearer than when we believed.”

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Romans 13:11.

6. “The time is short.”

But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remains, that both they that have wives be as though they had none. 1 Corinthians 7:29.

7. “Come, and will not tarry.”

For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Hebrews 10:37.

8. “Coming draws nigh.”

Be you also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws nigh. James 5:8.

Coming is Sudden.

1. “Knew not until the flood come.”

And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:39.

2. “I come quickly.”

Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which you has, that no man take thy crown. Revelation 3:11.

3. “I come quickly.”

7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book. 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Revelation 22:7, 12.

4. “I come quickly.”

Coming at an Unexpected Hour

1. “Hour knows no man.”

But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Matthew 24:36.

2. “Comes in an hour you are not aware of.”

43 But know this, that if the good man of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looks not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of. Matthew 24:43, 50.

3. “Comes at an hour when you think not.”

Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you think not. Luke 12:40.

4. “Come upon you unawares.”

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. Luke 21:34.

5. “Comes in an hour you think not.”

Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you think not. Luke 12:40.

Coming as a Thief

1. “What hour the thief would come.”

And this know, that if the good man of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Luke 12:39.

2. “Comes as a thief.”

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 1 Thessalonians 5:2.

3. “Day overtake you as a thief.”

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 1 Thessalonians 5:4.

4. “Come on thee as a thief.”

Remember therefore how you has received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore you shall not watch, I will come on you as a thief, and you shall not know what hour I will come upon you. Revelation 3:3.

5. “Come as a thief.”

Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. Revelation 16:15.

Watch For His Coming

1. “Watch. When your Lord does come.”

Watch therefore: for you know not what hour your Lord does come. Matthew 24:42.

2. “Watch for your master comes.”

Watch you therefore: for you know not when the master of the house comes, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Mark 13:35.

3. “Comes shall find watching.”

37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. 43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing. 46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looks not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. Luke 12:37, 43, 46.

4. “Hold fast till I come.”

But that which you have already hold fast till I come. Revelation 2:25.

Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which you has, that no man take thy crown. Revelation 3:11.

5. “High time to wake out of sleep.”

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Romans 13:11.

6. “Prepare to meet thy God.”

Therefore thus will I do unto you, O Israel: and because I will do this unto you, prepare to meet your God,

Attitude of Righteous to His Coming

1. “Occupy till I come.”

And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

Luke 19:13.

2. “Waiting for the coming.”

So that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 1 Corinthians 1:7.

3. “Patient unto the coming.”

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be you also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws nigh. James 5:7-8.

4. “Lo, this is our God.”

And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Isaiah 25:9.

Attitude of Wicked to His Coming

1. “Lord delays His coming.”

But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming. Matthew 24:48.

Thou ought therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Matthew 25:27.

2. “Lord delays His coming.”

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing. Luke 12:43.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:23.

3. “Go into the holes of the rocks.”

And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake terribly the earth. Isaiah 2:19.

Annihilation By Fire

1. Mode of final punishment

Thou shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of your anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. Psalm 21:9.

1 For, behold, the day comes, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that comes shall burn them up, said the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 3 And you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, said the LORD of hosts. Malachi 4:1, 3.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14, 15.

40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 13:40, 42.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Matthew 25:41.

2. Perishing as the result of the final punishment

But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. Psalm 37:28.

But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; 2 Peter 2:12.

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:14, 15.

3. Death as the end of such punishment

4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sins, it shall die. 20 The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. Ezekiel 18:4, 20.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8.

4. Annihilation is the permanent effect

But you, O God, shall bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in you. Psalm 55:23.

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever: Psalm 92:7.

The LORD preserves all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. Psalm 145:20.

Enter you in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Matthew 7:13.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28.

5. Annihilation By Fire

24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. Genesis 19:24, 25.

Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of you a great nation. Exodus 32:10.

And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. Leviticus 10:2.

And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. Numbers 11:1.

And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense. Numbers 16:35.

22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. 32:23 I will heap mischief upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them. 24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. Deuteronomy 32:22-24.

And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. 2 Kings 1:10

A fire goes before him, and burns up his enemies round about. Psalm 97:3.

28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed. 31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them. Isaiah 1:28, 31.

18 For wickedness burns as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke. 19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother. Isaiah

9:18, 19.

16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire. 17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day; 18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standard bearer faints. Isaiah 10:16-18.

For Tophet is ordained of old; yes, for the king it is prepared; he has made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, does kindle it. Isaiah 30:33.

You shall conceive chaff, you shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you. Isaiah 33:11, 12.

Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it. Isaiah 47:14.

15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. 16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. 24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. Isaiah 66:15, 16, 24.

Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. Jeremiah 4:4.

O house of David, thus said the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. Jeremiah 21:12.

3 He has cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he has drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devours round about. 4 He has bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire. Lamentations 2:3, 4.

6 Therefore thus said the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 7 And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and you shall know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them. Ezekiel 15:6, 7.

21 Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and you shall be melted in the midst thereof. 22 As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall you be melted in the midst thereof; and you shall know that I the LORD have poured out my fury upon you. 31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, said the Lord GOD. Ezekiel 22:21, 22, 31.

Thou has defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of you, it shall devour you, and I will bring you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold you. Ezekiel 28:18.

Seek the LORD, and you shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel. Amos 5:6.

5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yes, the world, and all that dwell therein. 6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. Nahum 1:5, 6.

10 And now also the ax is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. Matthew

3:10, 12.

49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, 50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Matthew

13:49, 50.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Matthew 25:41.

But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Luke 17:29, 30.

But that which bears thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. Hebrews 6:4-8.

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 2 Peter 3:7.

Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 1:7.

The New Earth And The New Jerusalem

1. What is God Preparing for His people?

But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:16

But you are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the Heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, Hebrews 12:22

2. Where is This City now Located?

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelation 21:2

28 Yet have you respect unto the prayer of your servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which your servant prays before you to day: 29 That your eyes may

be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you has said, My name shall be there: that you may hearken unto the prayer which your servant shall make toward this place. 30 And hearken you to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear you in heaven your dwelling place: and when you hears, forgive. 1 Kings 8:28-30

3. What is the city like?

And the city lies foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the

reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length [600 kilometers] and the breadth [600 kilometers] and the height of it are equal. Revelation 21:16

And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelation 21:2

17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. 18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. Revelation 21:17, 18.

21:12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. Revelation 21:12, 13, 21

And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. Revelation 21:21.

Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. Revelation 21:2, 11, 16.

1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:1,2

4. Where Will it be Transferred to?

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5.

22 For as the new heavens and the New Earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, said the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, said the LORD. Isaiah 66:22, 24.

5. What Reassuring Facts are There About the New Earth?

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. Revelation 21:3

Thou wilt show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11

And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity. Isaiah 33:24.

And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him. Revelation 22:3.

21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. 22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them. Isaiah 65:22,23.

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Isaiah 65:17.

16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Revelation 7:16, 17.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.

5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. Isaiah 35:5,6.

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. Philippians 3:21.

For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves and makes a lie. Revelation 22:25.

6. Will the Saints Have Real Bodies in Heaven?

36 And as they thus spoke, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and said unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are you troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones, as you see me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have you here any meat? 24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. 43 And he took it, and did eat before them. 50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. Luke 24:36-43, 50-51.

9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 1:10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel. 11 Which also said, You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:9-11.

7. What Thrilling Things Will There be to do in the New Earth?

21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of

them. 22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them. Isaiah 65:22,23.

And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 35:10

Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. Isaiah 51:11.

As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in you. Psalm 87:7

And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. Revelation 15:2.

2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. Revelation 14:2, 3.

22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, said the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, said the LORD. Isaiah 66:22-24.

And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 8:11.

9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kingdoms, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be unto our God forever and ever. Amen. 13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, you know. 36 But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for you know not what hour your Lord does come. 43 But know this, that if the good man of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be you also ready: for in such an hour as you think not the Son of man comes. Matthew 24:36-44

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming; 49 And shall begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looks not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Annihilation Of The Wicked

1. Ashes under soles of feet

1 For, behold, the day comes, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that comes shall burn them up, said the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and you shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, said the LORD of hosts. Malachi 4:1-3

2. Be as though they had not been

For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yes, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been. Obadiah 1:16

The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him. Job 20:9

2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. 10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yes, you shall diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. 20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless you the LORD, O my soul. Praise you the LORD. Psalm 104:35

Therefore as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 5:20-24

And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them. Isaiah 1:31

13. Candle of wicked put out

How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! And how oft comes their destruction upon them! God distributes sorrows in his anger. Job 21:17

14. Cast down to destruction

Surely you didst set them in slippery places: you cast them down into destruction. Psalm 73:18

15. Cast down, unable to rise

There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise. Psalm 36:12

16. Cast off forever

And you, Solomon my son, know you the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: if you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever. 1 Chronicles 28:9

17. Chaff which wind drives away

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Psalm 1:4

18. Chased out of world

He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world. Job 18:18

19. Consume

Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God rules in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah. Psalm 59:13

Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless you the LORD, O my soul. Praise you the LORD. Psalm 104:35

For the terrible one is brought to naught, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off: Isaiah 29:20

20. Consume away into smoke

But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. Psalm 37:20

21. Consumed

Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumes. Job 22:20

22. Consumed out of the earth

Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless you the LORD, O my soul. Praise you the LORD. Psalm 104:35

23. Cut down like grass

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Psalm 37:2

24. Cut off

For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. For the LORD loves judgment, and forsakes not his saints; they are preserved forever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt you to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it. Psalm 37:9, 22, 28, 34

And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yes, the LORD our God shall cut them off. Psalm 94:23

The LORD preserves all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. Psalm 145:20

Whoso despises the word shall be destroyed: but he that fears the commandment shall be rewarded. Proverbs 13:13

28. Destroyed forever

God shall likewise destroy you forever, he shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah. Psalm 52:5

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever: Psalm 92:7

29. Destroy utterly

He that sacrifices unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed. Exodus 22:20

Their fruit shall you destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men. Psalm 21:10

30. Devour

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. Psalm 50:3

31. Devour as stubble

For while they be folded together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry. Nahum 1:10

32. Die

33. Dissolved

The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. Psalm 75:3

34. Driven away like chaff

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Psalm 1:4

35. Eaten up like garment

For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation from generation to generation. Isaiah 51:8

36. The Soul is destroyed

And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho. Joshua 10:28

37. The soul can die

And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire. Joshua 11:11

38. God destroys the soul entirely

For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he has gained, when God took away his soul? Job 27:8

39. The soul is not immortal

62. Rain of fire and brimstone

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

As the whirlwind passed, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation. Proverbs 10:25

77. Wither as green herb

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Psalm 37:2

78. Blot Out Of Existence

For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world has he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. Hebrews 9:26

He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Revelation 3:5

For our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:29

Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judges her. Revelation 18:8

84. Death

21 What fruit had you then in those things whereof you are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:21, 23

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. Romans 7:5

85. Destroy

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28

87. Die

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believeth on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24

This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. John 6:50

I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins. John 8:24

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: 1 Timothy 1:19

91. Kill Outright

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28

They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. Matthew 21:41

But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Matthew 22:7

Enter you in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Matthew 7:13

And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, cares you not that we perish? Mark 4:38

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that you gave me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. John 17:12

But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with you, because you has thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Acts 8:20

What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much long suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: Romans 9:22

Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. Philippians 3:19

8 The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into perdition. 93. Never See Life

He that believeth on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him. John 3:36

And you will not come to me, that you might have life. John 5:40

Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing you put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. Acts 13:46

Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

Everlasting Life In Christ

Is eternal life a gift bestowed to the wicked by spending eternity alive in hellfire? According to the Bible only the righteous have everlasting life. This is clearly taught in the Old and New Testaments. God has never promised eternal life to the wicked.

Christ’s Death And Resurrection

1. To reveal God to the world

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 18 No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him. John 1:14, 18.

6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which you gave me out of the world: your they were, and you gave them me; and they have kept thy word. 26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith you has loved me may be in them, and I in them. John 17:6, 26.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 1 Timothy 3:16.

2. To redeem man by bearing the sin of man

4 Surely he has borne our grief, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God,

and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opens not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he has poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Isaiah 53:4-16.

The next day John sees Jesus coming unto him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, which took away the sin of the world. John 1:29.

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Hebrews 9:28.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24.

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16.

3. To bring God and man together

And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. Genesis 28:12.

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:23.

And he said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. John 1:51.

For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 1 Peter 3:18.

4. To bring back endless life to dying man

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:15, 16.

But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believeth on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10:28.

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever lives and believeth in me shall never die. Believe you this? John 11:25, 26.

Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also. John

14:19.

And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you has sent. John 17:3.

5. To destroy the devil and his works

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. John 12:31.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33.

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4.

He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8.

What Is The Soul?

Can be destroyed

But whoso commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: he that does it destroys his own soul. Proverbs 6:30, 32

Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. Ezekiel 22:27

Can be killed

Say, I pray you, you art my sister: that it may be well with me for your sake; and my soul shall live because of you. Genesis 12:13

And the soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people. Leviticus 20:1-6

Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goes unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD. Leviticus 22:3

And whatsoever soul it be that does any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. Leviticus 23:30

Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. Psalm 22:20

Can be slain

And will you pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies? Ezekiel 13:19

Can be utterly destroyed

35 And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish. 10:37 And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein. 10:39 And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king. Joshua 10:35, 37, 39

Can die

Lord, how long wilt you look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. Psalm 35:17

Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. Psalm 40:14

For you has delivered my soul from death: wilt not you deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living? Psalm 56:13

7 Return unto your rest, O my soul; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. 8 For you has delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. Psalm 116:7, 8

And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man; and every living soul died in the sea. Revelation 16:3

Can experience death

Let him know, that he which converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. James 5:20

Can Sin

1 And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he has seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity. 2 Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcass of an unclean beast, or a carcass of unclean cattle, or the carcass of unclean creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty. Leviticus 5:1, 2

Can talk with real voice

Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knows of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these. Leviticus 5:4

Can touch it

The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat. Job 6:7

Can touch it and kill it

13 Whosoever touches the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifies not himself, defiles the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him. 20 But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation has not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean. And whatsoever the unclean person touches shall be unclean; and the soul that touches it shall be unclean until even. Numbers 19:13, 20, 22

Cut off

And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant. Genesis 17:14

Destroyed in hell

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28

Eats and drinks

And you shall bestow that money for whatsoever your soul lusts after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever your soul desires: and you shall eat there before the LORD your God, and you shall rejoice, you, and your household, Deuteronomy 14:26

Eats food

4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. 5 And the people spoke against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loathes this light bread. Numbers 21:4, 5

The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want. Proverbs 13:25

Eats physical food

18 And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings be eaten at all on the third day, it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be imputed unto him that offers it: it shall be an abomination, and the soul that eats of it shall bear his iniquity. 20 But the soul that eats of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that pertain unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be cut off from his people. 27 Whatsoever soul it be that eats any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people. Leviticus 7:18, 20, 27

12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourns mong you eat blood. 15 And every soul that eats that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean. Leviticus 17:12, 15

God destroys it

For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he has gained, when God took away his soul? Job 27:8

Goes to the grave

For you wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt you suffer your Holy One to see corruption. Psalm 16:10

Thou shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from hell. Proverbs 23:14

Human body

15 Notwithstanding you may kill and eat flesh in all your gates, whatsoever your soul lusts after, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which he has given you: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart. 20 When the LORD your God shall enlarge your border, as he has promised you, and you shall say, I will eat flesh, because your soul longs to eat flesh; you may eat flesh, whatsoever your soul lusts after. Deuteronomy 12:15, 20

And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as your soul desires; then he would answer him, Nay; but you shall give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force. 1 Samuel 2:16

Moreover, my father, see, yes, see the skirt of your robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of your robe, and killed you not, know you and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against you; yet you hunts my soul to take it. 1 Samuel 24:11

The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casts away the substance of the wicked. Proverbs 10:3

Yet a man is risen to pursue you, and to seek your soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God; and the souls of your enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling. 1 Samuel 25:29

Human life

Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yes, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honor in the dust. Selah. Psalm 7:1-5

Killed by the Sword

And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire. Joshua 11:11

Need Saving From Death

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1 Peter 3:20

To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Psalm 33:19

Needs Preserving Power

2 Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O you my God, save your servant that trusts in you. 14 O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set you before them. Psalm 86:2, 14

You that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserves the souls of his saints; he delivers them out of the hand of the wicked. Psalm 97:10

Not Immortal

All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. Psalm 22:29

People seek to kill it

“For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself” John 5:26.

“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” John 5: 28, 29.

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life” John 5:39, 40.

The Source Of Life

1. Jesus Christ is the source of all life

9 Who knows not in all these that the hand of the LORD has wrought this? 10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. Job 12:9, 10.

For with you is the fountain of life: in your light shall we see light. Psalm 36:9.

8 O bless our God, you people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard: 9 Which holds our soul in life, and suffers not our feet to be moved. Psalm 66:8, 9.

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. Jeremiah 2:13.

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Acts 17:24, 25, 28.

2. Life came from God at creation

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7.

The spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life. Job 33:4.

I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded. Isaiah 45:12.

I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my out stretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me. Jeremiah 27:5.

3. This life was forfeited through sin

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die. Genesis 2:17.

In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return unto the ground; for out of it was you taken: for dust you art, and unto dust shall you return. Genesis 3:19.

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, has abounded unto many. Romans 5:12, 15.

4. Jesus came to save man

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:4.

21 For as the Father raises up the dead, and quickens them; even so the Son quickens whom he will. 25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. John 5:21, 25.

For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world. John 6:33, 47-51.

The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10, 27, 28.

Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6.

As you has given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as you has given him. John 17:2.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23.

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:4.

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:1-3.

5. Life is acquired through Jesus Christ

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:15, 16

He that believeth on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him. John 3:36.

But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14.

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:40.

But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through his name. John 20:31.

Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long suffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. 1 Timothy 1:16.

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:1.

11 And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:11-13.

For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; 6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and brings forth fruit, as it does also in you, since the day you heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth. 34. Who is the source of Immortality?

15 Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen. 1 Timothy 6:15-16.

9 Who has saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 2 Timothy 1:9, 10.

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. Titus 1:2.

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:7.

And for this cause he is the mediator of the New Testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Hebrews 9:15.

35. Whose resurrection saves us?

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5.

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude 1:21.

ETERNAL HOME OF REDEEMED

“And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem” (Micah 4:8).

“But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace” (Psalm 37:11; cf. Matthew 5:5).

“Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shall see it” (Psalm 37:34).
